One of the best places to view manatees is Manatee Lagoon – An FPL Eco-Discovery Center®. located in the heart of West Palm Beach overlooking the Lake Worth lagoon. This tourist attraction opened in 2016 and offers free admission and free parking. It is open 7 days a week between November 15 and March 31 (aka “Manatee Season”). It is closed Mondays between April 1 and November 14.
This beautiful 16,000 sf facility on a 5-acre campus boasts an ideal viewing area to see manatees up close and personal, either from the observation deck on the upper level or from the platform on the first level adjacent to the warm water outflow from the power plant. Visitors are encouraged to explore the exhibits and tour the property of this wonderful, one-of-a-kind destination. Manatee Masters conduct daily tours at 2 pm and visitors will have the opportunity to learn about these incredibly lovable and endangered mammals from trained environmental education ambassadors for Manatee Lagoon.
