Begoñe Cazalis Portrait

Begoñe Cazalis

Begoñe Cazalis is the Director of Communications at The Everglades Foundation and the creator of Everglades Stories From Across the Watershed, which recently won a Suncoast Regional EMMY® Award for Public Affairs – Series in 2024. She has an extensive background in communications and government relations, in both public and private sectors. She started her career as a journalist for The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald covering local government in various Miami-Dade municipalities. Prior to joining the Everglades Foundation team, Begoñe handled Public Affairs and Government Relations for Coca-Cola Beverages Florida at the state and federal level, leading sustainability efforts, as well as education and economic development programs.

Alexa Elliott

Alexa Elliott is the Series Producer and Manager of Science and Environmental Content and the creator of Changing Seas on PBS since 2007. Alexa has worked in public broadcasting since 1996, both in public radio news as well as in television production. Alexa has received numerous awards for her work, including the prestigious Communication Award presented by the National Academy of Sciences, regional Emmy Awards, a regional Edward R. Murrow Award, and an award from the Society of Environmental Journalists.
