Join Friends of Manatee Lagoon (FOML) for a FREE Vertical Oyster Garden Stringing Workshop in partnership with Tom Twyford and the Palm Beach County Fishing Foundation (PBCFF).
Attendees will get their hands dirty and learn how oysters help clean local waterways and support marine life, while building a garden for the PBCFF to use to restore declining oyster populations, improve water quality, and create habitats throughout our county.
During this interactive workshop, participants will:
- Discover how oysters improve water quality and strengthen coastal ecosystems
- Learn about the importance of oyster reef restoration
- Assemble a vertical oyster garden using recycled oyster shells
Vertical oyster gardens provide essential habitats for marine life while helping filter and improve the health of local waters as each oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day!
No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. Ages 9+ . Registration required, water and ice provided (bring a refillable water bottle) – this is an outdoor event.
