Main Content

Our mission is to educate the community about the challenges manatees encounter in Florida by raising funds and awareness to create life-changing opportunities for individuals to engage in conservation efforts that protect manatees and all marine life habitats.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Thanks to this incredible community, Friends of Manatee Lagoon’s work to protect manatees and seagrass in Lake Worth Lagoon and the surrounding waterways, continues to grow in reach, depth, and influence. Our independent nonprofit is energized by the impact we’ve made together and inspired by what’s ahead. The year ahead brings exciting opportunities to deepen our impact:

  • Expanding educational outreach with new teaching tools, including a fleet of microscopes and a mobile cart for instructors to lead pop-up lessons
  • Ensuring that all visitors have access to educational content thanks to the addition of complementary audio listening devices featured in a variety of different languages
  • Growing our seagrass nursery, strengthening our ability to educate the public on the critical role seagrass plays in manatee survival. Keep an eye on the nursery space for updates coming soon
  • Supporting new research initiatives, including a partnership with Palm Beach County Environmental Resources Management in the Lake Worth Lagoon, to understand the conditions that seagrass will encounter in various locations, and documentary video work
  • Updating the four interactive stations at Manatee Lagoon to update content (the center celebrates its 10th Anniversary in 2026!) and ensuring the lessons and games can travel and be used in other locations and events
  • Strengthening partnerships with conservation-focused organizations across Palm Beach County and beyond to protect our shared habitat

None of this work happens without you.

Thank you for believing in this mission and for standing with Friends of Manatee Lagoon as we continue creating lasting, meaningful change—for manatees, for our lagoon, and for future generations.

Here’s to an inspired and impactful 2026!

ADOPT-A-MANATEE®

We are excited to announce we have created an extraordinary partnership with the Save the Manatee Club, the world's leading manatee conservation organization.

The least movement is of importance to all nature. The entire ocean is affected by a pebble.
